The focus of this course is holistic women's health and gender related care for patients across the life span. This course includes the care of women, men and LGBTQ individuals incorporating health promotion, wellness maintenance disease prevention, early detection of disease, and prompt treatment of acute and chronic illness. The inter relationship of gender, social class, culture, sexual orientation, economic status, and socio-political power differentials will be covered. Critical thinking, diagnostic reasoning, and evidence-based practice guidelines for acute and chronic disease management are emphasized. Prerequisite: NURS 6011, 6022, 6099, 6111, 6122, 6144, 6155, 6166, 6455; Concurrently with NURS 6477.
