It will review pigments, their historical treatment and current development, and will examine the evolution of color models created to govern their usage. Through lab exercises students will examine how pigments are used to make paint and the methods used in its application. The color theory presented in lectures will be practically applied through a series of directed studio projects. The course will employ lectures, slide and powerpoint presentations, assigned readings, and hands-on projects and studio assignments to build color literacy for painters.
