The legislation and rulemaking processes relevant to environmental issues will be investigated. The biological basis for resource management decisions and the role of the scientist in advocating, writing and implementing environmental legislation and regulations will be examined in detail.

Topics will focus on the molecular events in the infection and replication of viruses in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, how viruses cause disease in humans, the host response to virus infection, and the control of viruses infecting humans. Viruses infecting other organisms, including insects and plants will be examined.
