  This course examines the field of victimology from a criminal justice perspective. It will focus on reviewing the problems associated with criminal victimization including the examinations of victim-offender relationships, the victim's role within society along with program and policies used within the criminal justice system, other social services and medical field to treat victimization. Specific topics will include sexual victimization, child abuse, intimate partner violence, and restorative justice. Prerequisite:    SOC111 AND SOSW140 AND SOSW220

Emphasis is placed on the development of an increased understanding of the use of self in the professional social work role. This course will not count toward the sociology major.   The purpose of this course is to develop a foundation of understanding of the past and present perspective of individuals with disabilities and how this history had led to special education legislation and law. The course will develop knowledge about the nature and needs of learners with exceptionalities and their families, recognition of the existing and emerging models of services and the educational law supporting the individuals rights to an appropriate education.
