This course examines major public policy issues and their disparate impact on racial minorities in the 21st Century. Students will identify racial biases in policies that have led to systemic inequality within institutions and society and evaluate their implementation and outcomes. Students will offer recommendations in the form of an evidenced based policy paper to address one of the major topics focusing on its impact on Black Americans, Latinx American, Asian Americans or American Indians. Policy topics to be covered in the course include: poverty, voting rights, criminal justice, race relations, housing, education, gender, healthcare, and the environment.
