It analyzes the structure and history of selected governments from Asia, Africa, South and Central America, Australia and Europe. The course provides a theoretical and analytical platform to compare governments and societies of different geographic and cultural background.

  This course examines major public policy issues and their disparate impact on racial minorities in the 21st Century. Students will identify racial biases in policies that have led to systemic inequality within institutions and society and evaluate their implementation and outcomes. Students will offer recommendations in the form of an evidenced based policy paper to address one of the major topics focusing on its impact on Black Americans, Latinx American, Asian Americans or American Indians. Policy topics to be covered in the course include: poverty, voting rights, criminal justice, race relations, housing, education, gender, healthcare, and the environment. This will include identifying the causes of policy problems and evaluating potential solutions. Policy topics to be covered in the course could include: education, the environment, immigration, entitlement programs and health care reform. The topics covered will change based on the significant policy issues being addressed by policymakers at the time the course is offered.
