It includes learning various studio hardware, signal processing, mixing board console navigation, signal flow, microphone designs and how they are used for recording sound, and where they are typically placed. Students learn how to run a live recording session and the best way to record, edit and master that session. Prereq: MUS 215.

  3-0-3 A continuation of studies begun in MUS 180, this course focuses on entrepreneurship in the music industry: marketing music projects, contracts and licensing, royalty reporting and other technological competencies necessary for a sucessful entertainment industry business. Students work on artist release projects from the College's record label, Spring Garden Records, designing promotional campaigns for press and promotion. Prereq: MUS 180.

  1-10-2 The Music Internship provides 120 hours of work experience for the student. In addition, students attend a weekly seminar to discuss topics including the latest software and hardware tools, ProTools certification, final resume preparation, and management of issues or problems that may arise on the job. Students will work in local music businesses or other venues appropriate to the individual student's goals. Prereq: MUS 180 and MUS 260, which may be taken concurrently.
