  3-0-3 This course prepares students to understand and apply the fundamentals of personal finance management. Students will be able to assess their personal financial literacy, establish financial goals and develop a strategy to achieve desired personal finance goals. Topics covered include: budgeting, banking and financial transactions; consumer credit principles including maintaining and restoring credit, and current regulations and practices that govern consumer financial transactions; banking services and products including housing financing; personal insurance basics; investment basics and their application to retirement planning; the role of financial counselors and required skill sets; financial planning for postsecondary education.
