  3-0-3 Students will learn how to use analytic geometry, differential and integral calculus, and vector algebra in solving engineering problems. They will also learn about the concept of the free-body diagram and its use in conjunction with static equilibrium of forces. The course will focus upon using the deductive process to solve a great variety of problems involving particles and rigid bodies in a state of equilibrium. Prereqs: PHYS 140, MATH 172. Students will learn the characteristics of an entrepreneur and how to use the tools that an entrepreneur needs to evalutate a business concept and, if it is viable, how to take the steps needed to make it a reality. The course covers key aspects of entrepreneurship, including planning, operations, human resources, finance, markeing, and ethical responsibilities.

Students in this course examine the role of marketing in startup ventures and the role of entrepreneurial thinking in marketing efforts. Students will explore traditional and novel approaches to defining markets and market segments, will discover inexpensive ways to conduct relevant market research, and will learn to identify ways to leverage marketing tasks. The course will also include e-marketing techniques and the use of social networking as they apply to marketing products and services. The course will conclude with the students submitting a working marketing plan.

This course develops the legally alert entrepreneur: one who continually reflects on the legal dimensions of their entrepreneurial activities and the impact and consequences of various aspects of the law on themselves and their undertakings.
