The course examines the political, socioeconomic, and historical factors contributing to a culture of peace and non-violence in Costa Rica as well as the contemporary challenges in maintaining that culture. Students will meet the decision makers and practitioners in the fields of government, business, education, religion, security, foreign policy, environment, and the media. Basic language and cultural instruction will be included along with excursions to areas of interest in Costa Rica. (Study Abroad). Core: D, SIT.
