The student will explore Graphic Design with an increased level of production, critique, history and aesthetics. This course is intended to increase skill level while continuing to develop the student's personal aesthetic. Creative responses to assignments will include the application of visual language skills to communicate ideas, meaning and information. Coursework will include traditional, digital and mixed media. Coursework will focus on studies in perception, visual organization, the graphic design process and ideation, with investigations into experimental and expressive aspects of graphic design. Through creative studio practice, students should develop the following emphasized artistic traits: ability to resist premature closure; sensitivity to problems; ability to synthesize.
