  This 48 hour course is designed as a sequel to the Fire Officer I course. It expounds upon the administrative and operational readiness challenges of a mid level supervisor (company officer/commander/captain) encounters on a daily basis. Fire Officer II provides current and aspiring officers and officer candidates for career, volunteer, federal and combination fire service organizations with an educationally sound objective based course of instruction.   This course is designed to challenge participants by exposing them to the advanced information and techniques needed for handling today's hazardous materials. Topics include chemistry and recognizing factors of hazardous materials, use of the latest detection and monitoring equipment, new advancements in proper personal equipment, specific and practical decontamination procedures, product safety and containment procedures and the tasks of establishing an effective while safe incident management system focusing on risk assessment.   This educational course will train the high school students will be trained to initiate an emergency response sequence by notifying the proper authorities of the release. They shall have sufficient training or have had sufficient experience to objectively demonstrate competency to understand what hazardous substances are, the risks, potential outcomes, the ability to recognize and identify their presence, their role including site security, safe scene management and how to use the U.S. Department of Transportation (US DOT) Emergency Response Guidebook during a hazardous materials/WMD emergency. Minimum age is 14 years old.

  This educational program will train the high school student to respond in a defensive fashion and at a safe distance, to contain a hazardous materials release and to keep it from spreading and prevent exposures.   This 40 hour course teaches the fire fighter about adult learning, teaching techniques, preparation of instructional objectives and development of lesson plans to meet those objectives. Various forms of audio visual aids will be demonstrated and each student will develop and present a teaching lesson. Prerequisites: Interior Fire Fighter and five years of experience in the fire service.

  This course is designed to give personnel the essential knowledge, skills and abilities to function on the fireground as a member of a Rapid Intervention Team. Staffing the RIT, searching for missing firefighters, accessing and assessing the downed firefighter rescue/removal procedures, and integrated exercises. Note: This class is physically demanding. Students participating in the program should be in good physical condition. No facial hair that will interfere with seal of the SCBA face piece will be allowed. Students must wear long sleeved shirts during all live-fire exercise. Prerequisites: Rapid Intervention Teams (RITC, 3-hr class) and Essentials of Firefighting or Fire Operations Module D.
