This course surveys the nature of the learning process and application of the principles of psychology to the problems of learning and teaching. Individual differences, special problems of learning, and evaluation techniques are among the topics covered. Field experiences are provided to acquaint students with an authentic teaching-learning environment.

This course presents cognitive, behavioral, and affective theories of development and their relevance in academic settings. Emphasis is on the importance of understanding multicultural and humanistic issues to maximize academic development. Exceptional populations and non-traditional testing techniques and alternate methods of student and teacher evaluation will be discussed, including their strengths and weaknesses in academic settings.
