If you complete the following at Northern Pennsylvania Regional College:

  • This course develops an appreciation of literature as it reflects human experience in diverse cultural contexts and an understanding of the essential elements of prose, drama, and poetry. Students will compare, contrast, and evaluate a variety of readings from different genres, time periods, and cultural contexts. Though multiple assessment measures may be used, students will be required to draw on research and writing skills from ENG 110. The completion of a research paper will be required.

  • An exploration of literature and the methods of close reading. Through encounters with significant literary texts, students investigate and analyze how literary meaning is constructed; how literature shapes and is shaped by its various contexts; and how literature enables criticalinquiry into values. Includes literary texts by women and people from underrepresented communities. Previously Offered As: Also offered as FNLG 121. May Be: ENGL 121/FNLG 121 may be used interchangeably for D/F repeats; may not be counted for duplicate credit.
