ENG 100 is a developmental writing course that introduces students from any discipline to the fundamentals of composition including: considerations of audience, thesis development, organization of ideas, methods of argument, revision, and copy-editing for grammatical correctness. Assignments include common forms of college writing-such as the personal, expository, and argumentative essays-and are designed to support student writing in other academic courses. The use of various instructional modalities (including computer-based instruction) will apply. While especially valuable for first-year writers, ENG 100 can be taken by upper classmen who would benefit from enhanced writing instruction. Course does not ful?ll the College writing requirement. Students are not allowed to withdraw from the course, except in cases of documented exigencies. Permission of the English department chair is required for withdrawal. Offered fall and spring. 3 credits
