Topics studied include descriptive measures for empirical data, theory of probability, probability distributions, sampling distributions of statistics from large and small samples, estimation theory, hypothesis testing, correlation, and regression.

You may receive up to 3.00 credits at Westmoreland County Community College:

  • An introduction to statistics with an emphasis on application rather than theoretical development. Topics covered include: frequency distributions, measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion, statistical inference, testing of hypotheses, regression and correlations. Elementary research designs are included. It is advised that students have a background in algebra. Prerequisite(s): MTH 052, 052A or Placement
