  This course is designed to train students in the contemporary skills of reporting, shooting, editing, producing and posting a great story to various forms of multimedia. Basic journalistic skills are stressed including, research & interview techniques, information gathering and news writing. The course includes the instruction, hands-on training and independent learning exercises required to prepare the student to function effectively in a fast-paced, multimedia environment. All types of presentation structures will be stressed including hard and soft news packages, feature material, investigative reporting and human interest stories.

While the basic applications of radio production were discussed in COM 201, in this advanced course, the student will continue to the next step in the application of learned radio production techniques. Includes lab work in an on-air production capacity on the College146s radio station, WSFX-FM.

• COM 207: Professional Internship

  A six-credit course in which the student will participate in a supervised on-the-job observation and work experience in a local media facility. Eligibility will be based on the student's departmental grade point average. Assignment will be made following evaluation of the student's grades, prior experience, and career objectives. Students will meet periodically with faculty members, will keep a running anecdotal history of his/her experience, along with a term paper placing those experiences in perspective.

  This course explores the importance of user-centric focused interface elements, intuitive layouts and immersive content presentation through strong UI/UX design. Students will discover the role that UX (user experience) and UI (user interface) designers play in game development and learn how they work together to create engaging player experiences. Students will be introduced to core concepts and methods for game specific contexts in the areas of UI/UX design. Interactive elements are critical to innovative game design and enhancing the overall player engagement. Students will learn the steps in the design process to provide solutions that solve a variety of real world game design problems.
