  Designed to address teaching reading and writing to the English language learner in a non-ESL classroom; address the concerns of teachers who encounter students in their classrooms who are learning English; explore theories about first-and second-language acquisition; introduce classroom best practices in literacy as they relate to learners of English; and support teachers in developing an understanding of the basic principles of teaching and assessing English language learners with practical suggestions for assisting students in learning to cope in their new culture.
