Students will analyze and critique corporations' current efforts to communicate their aims for positive social impact. Topics covered include the history of social impact in the development of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), organizational communication and reputation, stakeholder communication, and global organizational sustainability efforts. Students will learn how and why corporations go beyond providing a product or service, how the organizations communicate their sustainability efforts, and how corporations navigate the conflict between profit motive and creating a positive social impact.
