Description:
Prepares students to deliver therapy to patients prior to their arrival in hospital emergency rooms. Students are trained in advanced life-support procedures performed by following orders of physicians sent by radio or through following standard medical protocols. This course covers special challenges for EMS providers, medical technology in the home, assessment-based management, advanced physical assessment and clinical decision-making practices, as well as rescue practices. Students are also required to complete field externships as well as summative evaluations on campus. Students must have a current Pennsylvania or National Registry AEMT certificate. This course is the fourth course in the four- course Paramedic certificate.
