This is the first of four courses that introduces students to the fundamentals of the various systems used in the process industry and the interrelation between the types of equipment that are assembled to operate within a process system. Course topics include the system concept; overview of industrial water treatment; fire water, wastewater, and storm water systems; potable, process, and demineralized water systems; cooling water systems; and plant air, instrument air, and nitrogen systems. Students will gain knowledge utiizing small line drawings and P & ID''s for each system. Safety, troubleshooting, production scheduling, and quality/efficiency considerations and strategies will be addressed throughout this course. 1-1-1 Prerequisites: PTEC 104 and PTEC 106 or PTEC 173 and PTEC 183
