This course introduces students to the concepts and methods used in psychological research. Students will learn the basic principles of research design and demonstrate an ability to identify and apply the type of research method that best answers the question asked. Descriptive research designs, correlational studies and different types of experimental and quasi-experimental designs will be covered. Topics include the assumptions of scientific research, the function of ethics in conducting research and the role that reliability and validity play in the research process. In this course, students will research, design, conduct, analyze and write a report using APA format to summarize a research project. 3-0-3 Prerequisites: PSYC101 Corequisite: MATH 126
