World Literature focuses on the literature of cultures other than those normally discussed in traditional, Western-based courses. A broad range of writings by authors of Africa, Asia, Australia/Oceania, Europe, North America, and South America will be studied, with particular emphasis placed on populations that are underrepresented in the canon of literature. Examining poetry, fiction, nonfiction, songs, and oral traditions will nourish an appreciation of multiple historical experiences, cultural traditions, and literary modes (3-0-3) Prerequisite: WRIT101 or permission of the department.
