This course will examine probation, parole and community-based corrections in the adult and ju-venile court systems. Students will learn about the historical development of probation, parole and community-based corrections from inception to present. The goals, objectives, and practices related to probation, parole and community-based corrections will be examined. The responsibilities and functions of probation, parole officers, and personnel involved in community programs will be ex-plored. The psychosocial impact of probation and parole and community-based corrections on youth and adults will be addressed. The impact of probation, parole, and community-based cor-rections on society including family, peers, school and/workforce will be discussed.
