Over the course of the semester, students will prepare a diverse repertoire of audition material, including classical and contemporary, as well as dramatic and comedic monologues.   This class will explore personal relationships between performer and song as well as develop reading skills to learn performance readiness. Active performance and application of feedback are core to this work, as well as understanding techniques and the vocabulary of a musical theatre audition. Students will learn how to choose well-suited songs and develop an audition book comprising of different styles.

  Pop/ Rock Song Repertoire is designed to provide the musical theatre performer with a series of individually-tailored audition pieces, while also providing a thorough grounding in the historical background and stylistic demands of the various musical theatre genres. Students will develop solo performance pieces drawn from all Pop/Rock musical theatre styles.

  Movement for the Actor is an advanced-level course designed to facilitate and develop expressive, responsive movement in the stage performer. In addition to learning a battery of stretching and strengthening exercises, the student will explore physical character development through approaches such as Feldenkrais, "authentic movement" and Chekhov Technique.

  Voice for the Actor is a study of breath and vocal work that will inform explorations to develop awareness of the voice and body and how that connects to vocal energy. This will foster breath support, range and stamina. Students will learn the basics of vocal anatomy as well as develop skills for healthy vocal usage.
