  The course will enable students to converse and reflect on major issues in health policy through two media: face-to-face and digital dialogue. This course is intended to be largely a seminar course where students and professor meet to discuss the components of current and recent U.S health policy. Hybrid course (50% in-class; 50% online) gives the student opportunity for individual reflection and compilation of reaction papers (via online exchanges with the professor) in addition to in-class, group discussions. • XPA 600: Public Administration Internship I

  The MPA program Internship class is a two semester course designed to provide pre professional students with practical work experience within the field of public management. These advanced courses consist of completing a work assignment in a public or non profit agency and the completion of an internship paper that demonstrates the student's ability in practical application of public administration theories. An internship is required for all pre professional track students. The purpose of the internship is to: 1) provide students with the opportunity to obtain practical applications of public administration theories , and 2) demonstrate understanding and utilization of the principles in public administration. The final project for students completing an internship is a defense of an internship paper that analyzes public administration theories as they relate to the internship. Pre-Requisite: None

  This course is required for each MPA student . This course will provide students with experiential opportunities to integrate classroom learning with a relevant problem solving experience in an actual work situation. The course is primarily intended to help the students appreciate first-hand how to bridge public administration theories and practice. Over the course of a semester , the student enrolled in Public Service Learning Project works under the MPA Coordinator/ faculty's oversight to address real challenges affecting a community organization. Public Service Learning Projects offer MPA students a great opportunity to interweave their learning in project management, teamwork, data collection, analysis and reporting and to do so in real time , in an unpredictable , complex , real-world environment.
