Examines the relationship between individuals and societal institutions, processes, and interactions with emphasis on the ways power/status are reflected. Explores the relationship between individual identity and team dynamics as it pertains to race, gender, class, sexuality, ability, and age while relating to the methods and research findings of sociologists. Applies decision-making and problem-solving as members of a small teams working to achieve a shared objective within a larger organizational context. Designed for those seeking a minor in Effective Teamwork and Communication. Meets Social Science for Liberal Studies. SOC 151 and 161 may be substituted interchangeably for D/F repeats, but SOC 161 is required for the Effective Teamwork and Communication minor. SOC 151 and 161 may not be used for duplicate credit.
