Provides individuals with a basic overview of the history of child protection in America, including the key points of the Child Protective Services System. The two-hour course outlines the elements of child abuse, including the legal definitions for the child, perpetrator, as well as the definitions and indicators or abuse. Obligations of the mandated reporter are explained, how to make a report, protections for those who report and the penalties for failing to file a report. This interactive course meets the ACT 31 requirement for license renewals and involves lecture, group discussion, knowledge checks and discussion of reporting scenarios.
