This course examines key content areas to conceptualize the important components of nursing pharmacology related to pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and physiology. Major drug groups will be explored in terms of drug classifications, indications, mechanisms of action, adverse effects, contraindications, quality, safety and the nursing process. The principles of altered pharmacodynamics relative to populations, age and ethnicity are included. Specific nursing responsibilities related to drug administration are emphasized, including medication calculations
