The students will plan and teach multiple times to apply best practices for classroom teachers to teach health and physical education.     Introduces theories and principles concerning motor control and learning, emphasizing neurophysiological and neuromechanical factors related to motor control and behavior in skill acquisition. Emphasis is placed on the application of knowledge in movement neuroscience such as the results of research on neuromotor functioning and neural control of voluntary movement, the role of the central nervous system, and the character of peripheral neuromuscular and sensory systems in planning, initiating, executing, and monitoring voluntary movements.

Students will gain experience in constructing units of instruction, and in using a variety of teaching aids/strategies to enhance the teaching/learning process. This course is required for Health and Physical Education certification and is designed to meet SHAPE America Health Education Teacher Accreditation standards.

    Designed to provide the concepts and applications necessary for Physical Education teachers to the unique learning needs of students with disabilities in PK-12 settings. The course provides content and applications for preservice teachers to plan and implement learning experiences with developmentally appropriate adaptations and accommodations associated with best practices, including decisions and strategies for inclusion and placement in the least restrictive environment for PK-12 students. The course includes a clinical teaching experience within an authentic one-hour laboratory setting. This course is designed to meet for state and national physical education standards for accreditation.
