Students will learn the basic principles of research design and demonstrate an ability to identify and apply the type of research method that best answers the question asked. Descriptive research designs, correlational studies and different types of experimental and quasi-experimental designs will be covered. Topics include the assumptions of scientific research, the function of ethics in conducting research and the role that reliability and validity play in the research process.     This course is an introduction to the main instruments of measurement and control used in the process industry. The course describes typical process variables and the instruments used to sense, measure, transmit and control these variables. This course also discusses the concept of control loops and the fundamentals of control loops such as controllers, regulators and final control elements.
