    (African-American Heritage Intensive Course, Information Literacy Intensive Course). This course serves as an introduction to the historical and social forces that shaped the works of Americam artist of African ancestry from the Colonial period to the present. The course will examine the roots, main currents, forms, styles, content, aesthetics, and ideological dimensions of africian American art, as well as the extent to which the latter has captured the spirit of th black experience.     In this course , students will learn all of the components of running a gallery, including but not limited to: Matting, Framing, and Displaying Art; Curating; Publicity for Fine Art; Budgeting; working with artist and art organizations. This course will prepare students for jobs in galleries and museums or enable them to open their own gallery upon graduation with a Fine Art degree. Student will gain experience in running gallery through operating Cheyney University's own gallery in Biddle Hall. Pre-Requisite: None

    This course gives the student the opportunity to explore the art of Ancient Egypt and Ancient Nubia in a more detailed fashion than is possible in an African Art Class. The course will survey of Egyptian Art dating from pre-Nile cultures through Dynastic Egypt , The Roman Empire, the Christian and Islamic periods, and to contemporary Egyptian aritsts. Special attention will be given to Nubian and Kushitic cultures and their accomplishments in the ancient world. Pre-Requisite: None Or Distance Learning version of HAR213 to be offered as an "On-line" course in which more than 80% of the instruction will be completed outside of the classroom. Students will investigate the invention of writing, medieval manuscripts, the origins of typography, the emergence of graphic design and its pace in the computer age. Students will be introduced to the artistic trends and developing technologies that have influenced creative work throughout the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries.
