In this course, students learn to develop communicative proficiency in Spanish through an integrated approach incorporating all four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Grammatical structures, vocabulary and readings are presented as tools for students to develop strong communication abilities. Additionally, students explore and gain awareness of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. An emphasis is placed on providing opportunities for practicing pronunciation and conversation to advance listening and speaking skills. Readings allow students to enhance comprehension while writing assignments give practice communicating in Spanish. Students improve their proficiency in comprehending and using Spanish through an approach that develops all language areas.
