Course activities include lecture and discussion regarding workplace realities and asynchronous learning materials to guide participants to identify current strengths, develop tactical actions, and focus on leadership and focus on leadership and team-building actions that meet the needs of employees.

    This 6-week course provides students with content and instruction to develop core skillsets and abilities that act as a foundation for success in any workplace. These core skills can include, but are not limited to, expected workplace habits and professional interactions, ownership of tasks, and proficiency in common IT programs (MS Office), email, or related technology. Other soft skills presented include communication skills, motivation or engagement, interpersonal communications, and more specifically conflict resolution. The course content is further enhanced through discussions on the holistic development of healthy and effective behaviors that, when used in combination with the core skills presented, promote adaptability, communication, creative thinking and engagement with others. This course includes weekly (T/TH) remote presentations and discussions via Zoom, as well as asynchronous (independent) assignments and learning activities that are completed online. Course elements are presented in a blended format to include twelve (12) remote instruction sessions, learning checks discussions, and a final project.

This course is designed for the individual(s) who want to create a business or want to know more about the process of how to become a business in information technology. During this introductory course, you will learn the key differences between the different types of corporations, i.e. S-Corp, C-Corp, as well as the standard LLC (or) Limited Liability Company. Additional information will be shared to help you understand non-profit organizations and how all the different entities are taxed. Instruction will focus on the legal aspects as well as cover some of the expected startup costs to become a registered business within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Students will leave this course knowing what resources are available as well as understand the forms and processes needed to complete the enrollment and registration of the business using attorneys and tax accountants. The instructor for this course is an industry expert that will present the course in a remote or blended format. Typical course presentation includes learning activities and discussion to maximize adult learning and retention.

    Provides a basic understanding of key financial terms and concepts, as well as potential tools and tactics that a supervisor can use to build strategic awareness of elements such as inventory management, rework, and staff planning in their daily responsibilities. The outcome of this training is to produce well rounded supervisors, or leaders, who can recognize the impact their actions and decision have on both the financial health of their respective departments and the organization???s bottom line. The course is structured to allow students the ability to explore several topic areas, which cumulatively build on the weeks prior, to create additional understanding and connections to an organization???s ??big picture?? strategy, vision and goals. Using a blended format of in-person instruction (remote facilitator unless otherwise noted) and online resources and activities, this series provides a solid framework and foundation established leadership skills. Typical in-person sessions are approximately 2.5 hours (including appropriate break sessions) that can be presented in-person or via Zoom platform and are held one to two times a week. All course materials are presented by HACC instructors, who are highly qualified individuals, possessing a combination of professional industry experience, certifications and education for engaging interactions and professional facilitation of the course.
