  Covers information that defines and recognizes a critical incident and proper reactions that operate in the interest of preserving the health of the officer and of their family. Participants explore the impact a critical incident may have on an officers life, identify the acute and delayed reactions to critical stress, recognize the potential for Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome, review confidentiality, legal and denial concerns of an officer that may inhibit their ability to handle a critical incident, identify support activities that may serve to mitigate the negative effects from a critical incident, and review key concerns in preparing critical incident reports. Students must have completed the Commission's Basic Firearm's Training Program. This course is not taught by HACC.

Students must successfully complete the Commission???s Basic Firearms Training Program. This course is not taught by HACC.

Students must successfully complete the County Probation & Parole Officers' Firearm Education and Training Commission Basic Firearms Training Program. (HACC does not teach this course) and FETC Course 3 (Officer Survival Mindset, Cover and Concealment, and Immediate Action Drills).

  Affords Probation/Parole Officers the opportunity to engage in a series of deadly force situation simulations with complete safety, utilizing a computer projection system. Emphasis is placed on the appropriate use of force decision/action along with the appropriate tactical considerations. Class discussion and review of Court decisions relating to the use of deadly force, is conducted. The pre-requisite for participation in this advanced training course is successful completion of the Commission???s Basic Firearms Training Program (HACC does not teach this course) and either Officer Survival Mindset, Cover and Concealment, and Immediate Action Drills (FETC Course 3) or Force Response Training (FETC) Course 5.
