Equivalency Details

The information presented is an unofficial guide to how courses may transfer. Other factors to consider are grades received in the courses, the year in which the course was taken, and the major pursued after transfer. In all instances, final decisions about acceptance of course credit will be made by Northampton County Area Community College.

If you complete the following with AP - Advanced Placement:

  • This course is designed to be the equivalent of the general chemistry course usually taken during the first college year. For some students, this course enables them to undertake, as freshmen, second-year work in the chemistry sequence at their institution or to register for courses in other fields where general chemistry is a prerequisite. For other students, the AP Chemistry course fulfills the laboratory science requirement and frees time for other courses.

You may receive up to 8.00 credits at Northampton County Area Community College:

  • Chemistry I is a qualitative and quantitative study, both in the classroom and the laboratory, of matter and energy as they relate to the chemical properties of solids, liquids, gases, and solutions. Topics include stoichiometry, atomic/ molecular structure, bonding, states of matter, changes of state, and solutions. A quantitative study of each area is stressed; a strong background in chemistry and mathematics is required. This course is intended for science and engineering majors. Core: SCI.
