Equivalency Details

The information presented is an unofficial guide to how courses may transfer. Other factors to consider are grades received in the courses, the year in which the course was taken, and the major pursued after transfer. In all instances, final decisions about acceptance of course credit will be made by Reading Area Community College.

If you complete the following at Bucks County Community College:

  • Science and engineering majors take this lecture and laboratory course to study fundamental theories and principles of chemistry. Topics include stoichiometry, atomic/molecular structure, bonding, states of matter, changes of state, and solutions. A quantitative study of each area is stressed; a strong background in chemistry and mathematics is required.

You may receive up to 4.00 credits at Reading Area Community College:

  • This course is the first of a two-semester inorganic chemistry sequence. Major topics include: significant figures, scientific notation, scientific method, the metric system and measurements, nomenclature, atomic structure, chemical reactions and equations, formula calculations and stoichiometry, heats of reaction, calorimetry, Hess's Law, gas laws, atomic and molecular theory, structure and chemical bonding using VSEPR Theory, states of matter (gases, liquids, solids), thermochemistry, and solutions. This course is designed for students who are pursuing a career or further study in the sciences or engineering. The laboratory component reinforces the general theories and principles of chemistry that are introduced and emphasized in lectures
