  • A study of the basic principles of general and organic chemistry. Topics include: a basic study of matter, atomic structure, bonding, the properties of gases, liquids and solids, solutions, chemical reactions, acids and bases, uniqueness of carbon, hydrocarbons, functional groups and nomenclature. Treatment of these topics is essentially qualitative; however, simple quantitative methods are used when appropriate. Lecture and laboratory.
