ENGL 229 - Foundations in Creative Writing

A writing-intensive course that increases student understanding of language and the writing process through an exploration of forms of creative writing. Topics may include various genres including poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. An emphasis will be placed on: the value of original imaginative content; effective methods for offering feedback; incorporating such feedback in meaningful revision; line-by-line editing; and the development of a signature style. Course work will include concentrated writing assignments, readings, discussions, and in-class workshops. Credit will not be given for both ENGL 224 and 229.
