Analyzes major trends in the overall development of Spanish and Spanish-American cultures, with emphasis on diversity, migration, conquest, colonialism, authoritarianism, and democracy. Also examines in depth a particular topic within Spanish and/or Spanish-American cultures and societies by interpreting various types of materials from various regions and/or time periods. The particular topic to be studied in a semester is announced in advance. Taught in Spanish.
