Focuses on the critical analysis of primary and secondary sources centered on the production of a research project of significant scholarly value. Students will choose a topic, analyze the relevant secondary source literature and conduct original scholarly research using archival, oral, manuscript and/or other primary sources. Assigned readings will provide practical advice on the art of historical research and writing. Students will also be encouraged to submit their research for presentation at a professional conference or publication in a scholarly journal. Prerequisites: junior standing or instructor's permission.
