Designed to satisfy the mathematical needs of students in elementary education and related curricula. Topics covered include a study of problem solving strategies, mathematical reasoning, elementary set theory, number systems other than base 10, elementary number theory, and an axiomatic development of the real number system. Students solve mathematical problems using hands-on materials and electronic technologies. Emphasizes goals and procedures addressed in current state and national standards for school mathematics. Prerequisites: math placement level 2 or above.
