This course will focus on the key components relative to Intravenous therapy. Key terms associated with intravenous therapy will be an essential component for this practicum skills course. Administration of fluid, electrolytes and solutions, nutritional formulas, intravenous delivered medications will be the primary focus in this course. Specific nursing responsibilities related to administration of intravenous therapy are emphasized, including medication calculations and the role of the nurse in monitoring of intravenous fluid. Identify and demonstrate the use of equipment that support IV therapy, including peripheral access devices. Application of the nursing process in the care, maintenance and administration of intravenous theraov are identified
