Introduces the prospective field training officer to structure tools, techniques and concepts of Emergency Medical Services-Field Training and Evaluation Program (EMS-FTEP) and provides instruction in the principles of adult learning, coaching, evaluation, giving feedback, and documenting trainee performance using EMS-FTEP tools (e.g: Standardized Evaluation Guidelines, Phase guide, Phase Task Book and Daily Observation Reports). By the completion of the Basic EMS Field Training Officer course, the new FTO is prepared to perform the leadership, instructional, and operational duties of an Field Training Officer (FTO) in their organization.
