Designed to help individuals develop their listening skills and become more effective listeners. Through a combination of practical and interactive instruction, students will learn how to actively listen, interpret and respond to verbal and nonverbal messages. Specific topics covered within this course include the importance of listening, barriers to effective listening and various types of listening. This course will provide students with the opportunity to practice their listening skills through various role-playing, reflective exercises and group discussions. Students will have the opportunity to reflect on their own communication style and will have a greater understanding of the importance of active listening in both personal and professional settings and at the same time, will have developed the skills necessary to be effective listeners.
