This course provides intermediate-level study in animation for students emerging from introductory levels. Students will develop a project or series of projects and execute it to acceptable professional standards. Students will be introduced to intermediate and advanced level production techniques, project organization, and linear versus non-linear narratives. Students will develop proficiency using a variety of animation techniques and programs. The use of storyboards, animatics, special effects, audio components, and a variety of postprocessing approaches will be necessary. This class is repeatable and will cover special topics including stop motion animation, lip syncing, rigging, among others. Each time a student repeats the class they will be expected to further develop their technical expertise and produce a professional cohesive body of artwork. A minimum of 3 hours of work outside of class is required per week. This course is repeatable up to 6 times for a total of 18 credits, and can be taken for a total of six credits per semester.
