The course will draw on theology, political philosophy, and history to explore religious ideas' historical and ongoing impact on legal structures. A Christian perspective, including Catholic Social Teaching, will be central to our examination, though other religious perspectives will be addressed briefly. Our theoretical exploration will be combined with discussions of specific contemporary issues (gun rights/control, sexual crimes, incarceration systems, etc.)
