Provides theory and skills required for advanced practice with individuals, couples, and families. Advanced practice builds upon students' foundational knowledge of generalist practice in engagement, assessment, intervention and evaluation. This course provides instruction in the use of evidence-based models. Vulnerable populations will be identified and students will further develop their knowledge of multicultural social work with individuals. This course provides an overview of various theoretical approaches: including psychodynamic, cognitive, behavioral, humanistic, post-modern and trauma informed. This course includes a more sophisticated understanding of the bio-psychosocial model, the helping relationship, and the strengths perspective. The target audience includes second year graduate students in the MSW program. Method of delivery may include in-person and/or distance learning
