Introduces the early history of radioactivity in the environment, emissions from nuclear reactors and explosions, and transport and dispersion of radioactive pollutants. Describes the design of radiological monitoring programs including environmental sampling and analysis for radioactive contamination. Applies mathematical techniques for estimating the release, transport, and fate of contaminants in multi-media environmental pathways (air, ground water, terrestrial).
