Introduces regionalism in relation to contemporary, post-Cold War (bipolar), post-Americana (unipolar) paradigms on the world stage. Examines the rush to create regional schemes to fill the post-Cold War political vacuum. Investigates the many forms of regionalism in the world today, in their genesis toward globalization while utilizing the relevant theories of international relations. Addresses the European Union (EU) and emerging regional organization schemes in Asia, Africa, North America, Latin America, and the Middle East.
