Description:
Examines principles of typography, logos, signs, symbols and icons. Students develop concepts, create projects focused on understanding typography and symbol foundations using current software applications, and exercise professional practices. Emphasis is on typographic hierarchy, typesetting, alignment, layout, color, research and critical thinking. Projects include but are not limited to type as image, typeface designer research, logo design, icon set design and typeface design. Studio sessions include lectures, presentations, tutorials, group exercises, and demonstrations.
